This checklist covers the 15 most frequent technical failures I identify during forensic audits—ordered by algorithmic weight. Correct the High Priority nodes first for immediate visibility delta.

I. Performance & Core Web Vitals

01 Page Speed Latency (Score < 90)

DIAGNOSTIC: Run your domain through Google PageSpeed Insights. Analyze the Field Data for actual user experiences.
REMEDIATION:
  • Migrate assets to WebP format (target < 200KB per node).
  • Initialize edge-caching via a Global CDN (e.g., Cloudflare).
  • Minify CSS/JS payloads and defer non-critical rendering scripts.

DIAGNOSTIC: Identify the specific viewport element responsible for LCP in the Lighthouse report.
REMEDIATION:
  • Preload high-priority hero images and fonts.
  • Optimize server response times (TTFB) via high-performance hosting.
  • Implement aggressive lazy-loading for all below-fold assets.

II. Crawlability & Indexing

03 Internal Node Failures (404 Errors)

DIAGNOSTIC: Execute a full crawl using Screaming Frog or monitor the GSC Indexing Report.
REMEDIATION: Map all 404 nodes to relevant targets via 301 Permanent Redirects to preserve equity and user experience.

05 Missing XML Sitemap Index

DIAGNOSTIC: Validate existence at /sitemap.xml. Ensure the index is submitted in Search Console.
REMEDIATION: Automate sitemap updates to ensure Google discovers new content nodes within hours of publication.

III. Mobile Infrastructure

06 Mobile-First Incompatibility

Google utilizes mobile-first indexing. If your mobile node fails, your desktop rank collapses.

REMEDIATION: Ensure all touch targets are ≥48px and typography is set to a base of 16px for legibility.
